News Facts
Earth Rangers, an award-winning charitable organization dedicated to educating children about biodiversity loss and empowering them to take action to protect animals and their habitats, has implemented Oracle’s Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System to replace its legacy storage system.
To better support its educational programs and website, Earth Rangers required a scalable, high capacity, high performance storage solution that could be implemented quickly to help store photos, videos, pictures and other rich content.
Earth Rangers sought to replace a legacy data system with an energy-efficient solution that could lower maintenance time and costs and reduce data delays, as well as align with the organization’s environmentally conscious pedigree.
Continuing its commitment to sustainability, Earth Rangers implemented an energy-efficient Storage Area Network (SAN) environment with Oracle’s Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System for high efficiency, increased capacity utilization and scalable storage. The solution supports the organization’s growing library of educational Web content, which consists of an additional 20 terabytes of data each year.
The Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System also helps increase overall productivity and reduce slowdowns and delays with its patented Quality of Service capabilities, improving the ability to retrieve videos, pictures, and other content for the organization’s eco-educational Web sites.
The Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System’s advanced storage management capabilities enable Earth Rangers to achieve significant power savings in its data center. With the ability to allocate applications to premium, high, medium and low archive tiers in a single system, the organization minimizes energy use and reduces heat generation.
With the Oracle Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System acting as a key component of its data center and running on just six to seven kilowatts of energy, Earth Rangers has won two industry awards for energy efficiency.
Additionally, Earth Rangers completed the implementation with ease, limiting downtime during the transition from the legacy system.
