WOODBRIDGE, ON (November 12, 2010)—Earth Rangers, a charitable children’s organization dedicated to educating children about biodiversity loss, has been recognized as one of the Top 12 Green-IT Organizations by Computerworld. Out of the Top 12 Earth Rangers placed fourth.
Computerworld is the number one publication and website for IT leaders and its annual awards program green2010organizationsshowcases the achievements of IT departments that are reducing power demands and using technology to create energy efficiencies. The Top 12 Green-IT departments were chosen from a group of nearly 100 applicants, each of which is dedicated to finding new ways to reduce the energy consumption of their IT equipment.
“Earth Rangers is excited to have been chosen as the 4th Top Green-IT Organization by Computerworld,” says Peter Kendall, Executive Director and Co-CEO of Earth Rangers. “This award demonstrates how a small, but growing, Canadian children’s charity can make a big difference and we are honoured to be in the company of such progressive green multinationals as PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Citi Group Inc. and State Street Corp.”
Earth Rangers’ Green-IT project is fueled by the organization’s commitment to energy conservation. “We spent months researching the most power-efficient equipment from leading environmentally conscious companies and our success would not have been possible without the support of Pillar Data Systems, FalconStar, Dell, VMware, Microsoft, Avaya, Lexmark and APC,” shares Rob Di Stefano, Earth Rangers IT Systems Director. “We are delighted to be acknowledged alongside such successful corporations and our goal now is to inspire other corporations to do the same by creating sustainable IT infrastructures themselves.”
“We applaud Earth Rangers accomplishments as a Top Green-IT organization,” says Mike Workman, Chairman and CEO of Pillar Data Systems. “This honour proves data center efficiency is within reach of every company, big or small. Earth Rangers philosophy of sustainability drove their decision to deploy our Axiom 600 storage, which features industry-leading performance and the lowest space and power requirements, so we are proud to share Earth Rangers commitment to making energy conservation a goal that everyone can achieve.”
