Hello and thank you for stopping by the Earth Rangers Centre blog. My name is Julian and I am a Building Operator at the Earth Rangers Centre (ERC).
As an Environmental Engineering graduate of Seneca College and a Certified Engineering Technician under the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists, my passion for applying my higher learning to a career in environmental technology led me to the ERC.
During my time as a student at Seneca I learned how engineering principles can be applied to green technologies, fostering my interest in the field of environmental technology. As a student, I worked as part of the building team at the ERC for three consecutive summers doing everything from preventative maintenance on the various building systems to habitat restoration projects on the grounds surrounding the building.
After graduating I took a short contract position with the City of Toronto but had the opportunity to return to the ERC in 2014. Working at the ERC brought the connection between environmental stewardship, green energy and the mechanics to make that happen full circle. And so, I started on a new road, learning the systems and technologies that make the ERC one of the greenest buildings in North America.
In my next blog I’ll share what I am doing to keep up with the ever changing field of green technology.
Students or those new to Green Building/Building Operations will want to read this!
