The Earth Rangers Centre has been recognized by CivicAction with a Race to Reduce Building Performance award for demonstrating superior energy performance in 2012.
The ERC was awarded the Building Performance – Lowest Energy Use award for a building under 250,000 sq. ft. with an EnergyStar score of 100. This EnergyStar performance rating of 100 indicates that the ERC is among the highest performing buildings in Canada.

In 2012, the Earth Rangers Centre completed its LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance certification, which included in-depth energy auditing, additional system sub metering and automation sequence optimization.
Earth Rangers joined the Race to Reduce smart energy office challenge in 2011 as part of our ongoing commitment to energy efficiency and in response to the Race’s challenge to the Toronto region office building sector to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in the Toronto region through energy reduction and efficiency.
The office building sector contributes close to 20 percent of the Toronto region’s carbon emissions. The Race to Reduce challenges Toronto region office building landlords and tenants to publicly commit to work together to reduce energy use in their buildings and to reduce the total energy use in participating office buildings by at least 10 percent over four years. To date participants have reduced our collective energy use by nine percent!
It is thanks to the generous support of our partners that the Earth Rangers Centre is able to meet this impressive level of sustainability.
